Composition: CARDIOLTM is an innovative formulation containing fish oil purified through multiple molecular distillation and standardized to 75% of omega-3 EPA/DHA fatty acids; Rice dry extract (Oryza Sativa) fermented with Monascus Purpureus (red yeast) standardized to 3% of Monacolin K; Citrus Aurantium L. d.e. standardized to 40% of polymethoxylated flavonoids Tangeretin and Nobiletin (Bioflavonoids); Polygonum Cuspidatum d.e. standardized to 50% in Resveratrol, Oryza Sativa wax d.e. titled to 95% of polycosanols, Coenzyme Q10,

Folic Acid, Vitamin B3, B6, B12, Vitamin E as a blend of palm tocotrienols and tocopherols (

Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) and soya tocopherols (Glycine max L.), sesamum lignans (Sesamum Indicum L. d.e.), black pepper (Piper Nigrum L. d.e.).

Active ingredients properties as reported in the scientific literature

Omega-3 fatty acids EPA/DHA: Medical literature provides extensive evidence of the protective role of omega-3 EPA/DHA fatty acids in cardiovascular health. Regular consumption of fish or fish oil supplements improves blood lipid levels and is associated with a dramatic reduction of cardiovascular disease risk.

Monacolin K: Monacolin K is a natural statin, obtained from fermentation of a rice extract (Oryza Sativa)with red yeast (Monascus Purpureus). Monakolin K is a competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutarylcoenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase) a key enzyme in the hepatic synthesis of cholesterol. It provides the primary effect on reducing cholesterol synthesis and lowering serum cholesterol levels in the body. Research recently has shown that the association of fish oil and red yeast rice has the same effectiveness in lowering blood cholesterol levels that usual treatment with synthetic statins.

Bioflavonoids: bioflavonoids - polymethoxylated flavonoids (PMF) are a subclass of Citrus flavonoids, object of study for their anti-inflammatory and hypolipidemic properties. Scientific studies showed, besides the antioxidant action, the ability of polymethoxylated flavonoids to inhibit the cholesterol and triglycerides hepatic synthesis. From recent studies PMF and tocotrienols showed to act synergistically in the haematic control of cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Resveratrol: Resveratrol is a compound with antioxidant action belonging to the polyphenols class to which are assigned important properties opposing the cell aging processes. Resveratrol, contained also in red vine, protects the endothelial cells from oxidative stress caused by the LDL oxidation. Resveratrol exerts both anti-inflammatory (through inhibition of the cyclooxygenase enzyme COX and reduction of the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins) and vessel-protecting actions (through the increase of the nitric oxide production and the reduced expression of vasoactive peptides), showing a marked effectiveness in the cardiovascular protection. To Resveratrol is imputed the merit of the explanation of the so-called French paradox: French people, despite a diet rich in saturated fats but including also a regular assumption of red vine, enjoy better cardiovascular health compared to other populations assuming comparable saturated fat quantities (American, English, German etc.).

Polycosanols: Polycosanols are a natural mixture of primary aliphatic alcohols extracted, in prevalent way, from rice wax and sugar cane. They work sinergistically with omega-3 in maintaining the right balance of the haematic fats. Moreover they exert anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and hemo-fluidifying action useful in the prevention of atherosclerotic alterations.

Coenzyme Q10: Coenzyme Q10 is found in the mitochondria of all cells. It functions as part of the cellular system that generates energy from oxygen (in the form of ATP) for physiological processes. Coenzyme Q10 improves heart muscle function enhancing its contraction strength.

B-complex vitamins : B-complex vitamins such as folic acid, B6 and B12 are needed to support normal homo cysteine levels, a metabolite of the amino acid methionine whose high blood levels have been linked to blood vessel damage and hightened risk of heart disease.

Vitamin B3: Vitamin B3 (also known as Niacin) has been shown to help reduce LDL cholesterol and homocysteine levels.
