For Samatoa, respect for the environment is fundamental, that why our Eco Fibers workshop only works from fibers that are 100% natural, ecological and respectful of our clients’ health.

We have supported the creation of the first natural fiber weaving in Cambodia in order to be able to create our own unique collections of natural fibers from the spinning and weaving stages.

Thanks to this ten year old multicultural collaboration, Samatoa has developed intensive research in the development and expertise of high quality silk production.

Our dyeing programs aim to limit to the utmost environmental impact by eliminating completely any use of noxious chemical products thus offering true advantages from environmental and health points of view.

Our silk comes from the silkworm cocoon, providing particularly strong and silky thread.

Raw silk is the result of weaving thin and raw silk together, giving the fabric a natural and authentic texture . Cambodian raw silk is regarded as the best quality in the world.

Thick taffetas silk is the best natural silk quality with very few irregularities. It is also much appreciated as it keeps warm in winter and cold in summer.

Thin taffetas silk, slightly see-through, is the lightest and most delicate silk. Soft and silky, it is ideal for summer.

The tradition of silk-making goes back hundreds of years in Cambodia. Silk yarn is extracted from the silk cocoon and then ready to be dyed. The yarn will be degummed, by using natural components. When ready, the yarn is boiled and then the dyed yarns are finished and dried. Finally, the silk is spun on a yarn on wooden reels and is finally ready for the weaving process.

The weavers groups in Cambodia produces Samatoa's fabrics and scarves. The specific weaving technique used in this isolated village creates a unique silk quality in the silk farm in Cambodia.
