Magnesium nitrate is a hygroscopic salt with the formula Mg(NO3)2. In air, it quickly forms the hexahydrate with the formula Mg(NO3)2·6H2O. It is very soluble in both water and ethanol. Its melting point is 95.0°C, and boiling point is 330°C. The density is 1.464g/cm3. It is likely to spontaneously combust if mixed with organic chemicals .
