Q1. What kind of plant fibers are EATware® made of? Are they renewable sources?

A1. EATware® products are made from natural raw pulp fiber and agricultural by-product fiber such as bamboo, eco-friendly Chinese fir and tapioca starch. They regenerate fast, being abundant in nature and yet renewable.

Q2. What is the additive EATplusTM made of?

A2. EATplusTM is mainly composed of starch.

Q3. Are EATware® products totally free of chemicals?

A3. Yes our products are totally chemical free and non-tosix. They are made only with all natural products.

Q4. Why are EATware® plates brown in color?

A4. EATware® is dedicated to protecting the environment. We choose not to use bleaching process necessary to create "white" plates in order to minimize resources used in the creation of our products. Sewage disposal after the bleaching process is very damaging to aquatic lives. Color variations in our products from time to time are simply due to the natural color variation between bamboo pulps

Q5. Does EATware® have any kind of odor?

A5. EATware® products, just like any other natural products, has a natural plant aroma. It does no harm to your body and will not affect food taste.

Q6. How thick is an EATware® ?

A6. EATware® products are normally 0.7±0.05mm thick, but may vary according to the intended use.

Q7. Are EATware® plates recyclable?

A7. For the safety of consumers, any plate or bowl that has absorbed food material usually will not be recycled due to the difficulty of cleaning the material for reuse in the recycling process. EATware® plates that have not absorbed any food material may be recyclable in some communities.

Q8. What is EATware®'s maximum heat toreance?

A8. EATware® is heat tolerat and can be put in the microwave and oven. Alike other natural products, extremely hot food might cause EATware® to lose some of its physical strength, but the maximum heat tolerance of an EATware® can be up to 250°C.

Q9. For how long can an EATware®withstand water?

A9. An EATware® product can hold cold water for a minimum of 5 days and hot water for a minimum of 30 minutes without loosing its physical strength.

Q10. For how long can an EATware®withstand hot food?

A10. Under normal use, an EATware® can endure hot food for approximately one day but actual time depends on food moisture content.

Q11. For how long can an EATware® withstand hot soup?

A11. An EATware® can withstand up to 95°C hot soup for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Q12. How long does it take before an EATware® gets soft?

A12. When holding hot liquids or juicy food, an EATware® product may get soft after 15-20 minutes, but usually will not deform.

Q13. How long does it take before an EATware® starts to degrade?

A13. Degradation starts when an EATware® product comes into direct contact with an appropriate type and amount of microorganisms and water or soil and at ambient environmental conditions.

Q14. How long does it take for the degradation to complete?

A14. EATware® does not only degrade but also decomposes (refer to Q17) to 64% within 180 days. It takes a further 90 days to vanish in a simulated landfill environment.

Q15. What are the end products of biodegradation and do they have any harmful effect on the environment?

A15. The end products of biodegradation are carbon dioxide, water, and biomass. Extensive studies and tests have been conducted by EATware® with internationally recognized laboratories and institutions to confirm that they do not leave harmful or toxic residues on the environment.

Q16. Can I put EATware® into a microwave oven? For how long?

A16. If EATware® is used to warm up food, it functions reasonably well in a microwave. You can put an EATware® in a household 750 watt microwave on full power for at least 5 minutes.

Q17. Can I put an EATware® into a steamer? For how long?

A17. Yes, you can put an EATware® product into a steamer for an hour without losing its physical strength.

Q18. Can I put an EATware® into an oven? For how long?

A18. Yes, you can put an EATware® product in a 250°C oven for 30 minutes without losing its physical strength.

Q19. Can I store an EATware® in the refrigerator? For how long?

A19. Yes, you can put an EATware® product in a refrigerator for 7 days and in a freezer for 3 months.

Q20. How long is EATware®‘s shelf life?

A20. Well packed EATware® can be stored in a cool dry place for at least one year.

Q21. Does EATware® product have a low carbon footprint?

A21. Yes. EATware® utilizes bulk purchase and efficient transportation logistics. We also use renewable raw materials for production, which is why our carbon emission is therefore minimal.

Q22. Does the factory where EATware® products are made comply with International Quality Management Standards?

A22. EATware® factory comply with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certification and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification.

Q23. Does EATware® meet any international food packaging standards?

A23. Yes, EATware® products meet FDA, HKEPD HS standards, US Green Seal Standards, European biodegradability and compostability EN 13432 standards, the Canadian Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act C-38 and the BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute).

Q24. Is EATware® expensive?

A24. EATware® products are relatively a bit pricey in comparison with petroleum-based products.
