Acoustic insulation is a form of soundproofing with the purpose of blocking sound from entering or exiting an enclosed area by using a type of barrier. Sound can travel in more ways than one, that is why the tools used for sound insulation will differ. An example where this type of insulation is normally used is in recording studios. To block off background sounds from interfering a recording process, musicians record their music in an area where sound insulation has been installed. This involves the floors, walls, and ceiling. Sound insulation is also used in spaces such as apartments, condominiums, and even business settings.
