Polyacrylamide (PAM)

Polyacrylamide is called PAM for short.There are four types of PAM, anionic cationic(CPAM),nonionic (NPAM),and zwitterionic .Polyacrylamide is a polymer formed from acryla mide subunits,and it is highly water-absorbent.Polyacrylamide and its derivatives can be used as a flocculant, thickener, paper intensifier and liquid drag reduction agent.

Non-ionic polyacrylamide:

Mainly used as the flocculant, in oil industry, textile industry and paper making industry, sewage

treatment agentt, chemical grouting agent,humetants of oil etc.

Anionic polyacrylamide (APAM):

The aqueous solution is polyelectrolyte,has the positive charge, may condense effectively to the

aerosol organic colloid and the organic compound, and strengthen

the li-quid-solid separation process.

Cationic polyacrylamide(CPAM):

Assumes the high polymer electrolyte in neutrality and alkalinity medium special, is sensitive to

the salt electrolyte.

1. flocculation: PAM allows suspended substance take the effect of flocculation by charge

neutralization, bridge absorption.

2. Adhesion: have the effect of adhesion by machinery, physical, chemical.

3. reduction of resistance: PAM can effectively reduce the friction resistance of the liquid,

a little PAM can reduce 50—80% resistance.

4 . thickening: PAM in neutral and acid conditions are thickening, PAM can be easy hydrolysis

when the PH value is above 10. thicken will be more clearly when it becomes the station

of half-mesh structure.
