Surface Preparation

High pressure fresh water wash or fresh water wash, as appropriate, and remove all oil or grease, soluble contaminants and other foreign matter in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning. All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination.

New building/Major Refurbishment

725-B40-8 should be applied over a recommended primer coating scheme. The primer surface should be clean, dry and free from contamination. 725-B40-8must be applied within the coating interval specified (consult the relevant product data sheet). Areas of breakdown, damage etc. should be prepared to the specified standard (eg. St3) and primed prior to the application of 725-B40-8.

Repair

Application of 725-B40-8 over self:

Clean the entire area with close high pressure fresh water washing using a fan-jet lance held close to the surface (3,000 p.s.i., 211 kg/cm2 ) as soon as the vessel enters dock and before it dries out. Consult Xiamen Sunrui for alternative methods of surface preparation. Repair corroded areas with the recommended anticorrosive prime sytem and apply 725-B40-8 within the overcoating interval specified for the primer (consult relevant primer data sheets)
