1. Introduction and Application of Raw Mill

The raw mill is a kind of mill equipment which is widely used for grinding (both drying and grinding) cement raw material and other materials in cement chemicals, building material, metallurgical, coal, electricity and other fields.

2. Features of Raw Mill:
a. High efficiency of grinding.

Using the principle of material bed’s crushing and squeezing, the material is rolled, cut, impacted in the mills; the airflow in the mill can take the grinded materials out timely to avoid excessively grinded; the materials generally stay in the mill for 2-4 minutes. It has the 165% grinding efficiency as the ball mill and the power consumption can be reduced by 30% or so.

b. High drying efficiency.

Hot air spray in from the annular gap with high wind speed; there is a large ventilation cross-section in the mill and the air resistance is very small. The materials with 8% moisture can be dried by the exhaust gas from preheater in the end of kiln. If there is a hot air furnace, the materials with 15%-20% water content will be dried.

c. low power consumption, small noise, simple process, layout compact, combined with crushing, drying, grinding, classifying as a whole.

3. Sorts of Raw Mill and Features:

a. Common Raw Mill It is used for small & medium-sized raw materials grinding system which generally is cycle flow system with material separating system outside the mill.

b. Air-swept Mill The feature of Air-swept mill is short and thick in shell, wide in diameter of inlet & outlet trunnion, large in grate gap area of diaphragms between drying chamber & grinding chamber, no grate plate in mill outlet. Therefore, air speed inside of mill could reach 5m/s due to small resistance and drying capacity is strong since large amount of hot air could get in.

c. Outlet Discharging & Lifting Cycle Mill Comparing with Air-swept Mill, materials, passing through the drying chamber, are discharged at the outlet of grinding chamber by mechanical way, and then fed into separator by elevator which would return the coarse materials to mill again for cycle grinding.

d. Middle Discharging & Lifting Cycle Mill From the view of drying, it is the combination of Air-swept Mill & Outlet Discharging & Lifting Cycle Mill; from the view of grinding, it works similar to secondary stage cycle grinding system. At the front end, it has drying chamber with high drying efficiency. Materials are fed from mill inlet; returned materials from separator are fed through mill inlet & mill outlet into rough grinding chamber & fine grinding chamber respectively.
